Wall Copings for Superior Wall Protection

Wall copings are precast concrete caps installed on top of walls to protect them from weather damage. They form the critical finishing element that shields the wall core from rain, sun, and temperature extremes.

The coping sits atop the wall, typically with a slight overhang on each side. An integrated drip groove on the underside prevents water from running back onto the wall face. The sloped top surface encourages water to run off rather than pond.

At Majorcon Precast, our wall copings are engineered for effective weather protection and lasting durability, giving walls a clean, finished appearance while preventing long-term damage. Build with confidence. Build with Majorcon Precast.

Why Choose Our Wall Copings

Frequently Asked Questions

Wall copings are essential for long-term wall durability. Here are answers to the questions we receive from architects, builders, and homeowners.

The drip groove (or throating) is a critical functional feature:

  1. Water interruption: Breaks the surface tension of water running along the underside

  2. Water shedding: Causes water to drip off rather than travel back to the wall face

  3. Stain prevention: Prevents unsightly water stains on the wall surface

  4. Freeze protection: Reduces moisture on wall face that could freeze and cause damage

All our wall copings include an integral drip groove along both sides.

Our Sales Team can advise on the most suitable profile for your wall type and location.

Coping width should exceed wall width for proper protection:

  • Standard rule: Coping width = wall width + 50mm to 75mm total overhang

  • Overhang: 25mm to 40mm on each side is typical

  • Measurement: Measure your wall width (including render or cladding)

  • Selection: Choose coping width closest to wall width + total overhang

Example: A 225mm wide blockwork wall would typically use 300mm wide copings (225mm + 40mm + 35mm overhang).

Yes, several options available:

  • Standard copings: For gentle curves, standard lengths can follow curve with slightly angled joints

  • Radius copings: Manufactured to specific radius for consistent curved appearance

  • Short lengths: Smaller units (300-600mm) for tighter curves

  • Special molds: Custom profiles for unique architectural curves

Provide your wall radius to our Sales Team, and we’ll advise on the best solution.
